Starting with the synthesis of cubic boron nitride (CBN) by RH Wentorf of GE in the United States in 1957 using ultra-high pressure technology, CBN was also successfully synthesized in the former Soviet Union, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom in the 1960s and early 1970s.
